ROTU Tables

Here are some resources I created for building ROTU decks.  This takes some of the fun picking interesting letter combinations and building a deck.  It gets down to trying to maximize the number of cards available to play by picking the right 3 letters.  Alternately, it could be used to pick you letters and then finding the best faction to fit those letters.

Here is a raw breakdown of # of cards per faction for each letter.

Add to this the number breakdown by foundation because you need to be able to include foundation in the deck.

Then check the number of hitters available.  Hitter in this is just printed fighting 6+.  This excludes some characters that can be used as hitters but is a good start.

And finally combine it all for a total ranking by letter.  The rank is the number of foundation available x 2 + number of hitters + number of cards available / 10.  This is obviously very subjective.  It might be a good start for your first two letters to make sure you have sufficient foundation and hitters.  The third letter might be best to choose based on a 'broken' card (e.g. Imprison) or alternate power generation. The highest ranked letter is highlighted.  Note that 'S' is the best letter for 5 different factions.

  1. The problem, of course, is that it doesn't really matter how -many- cards there available so much as having the -right- cards. B is amazing for the Jammers not because it has 18 cards, but because those cards include Battlematic, Battlechimp Potempkin, Ba-Boom, Big Macque Attack, Bomb Factory, etc. Whereas T, while having as many letters, just isn't as interesting.

Generally, when designing a ritual deck, I -start- with looking at a letter shared by two foundations in the same faction -- or some other foundational type of cards in a faction. Then I look to see if there's support higher in the faction for that letter to support them. Functionally, you're going to have to pull your FSS and foundations from the same pool of letters as your hitters, support, and power gain cards, so that kind of synergy is very important.

    1. Yes, in the ranking of letters in the last table, B comes up as the best letter for Jammers. It is followed by M. Since this corresponds with your winning Monkeys In Black deck, it seems to give a good place to start.

  2. The spacing on this is a little odd, but a good resource.

  3. Willow,
The tables looked OK on my iPhone, but are missing columns for Magic, Tech, and Unaligned. I'll have to work on it.

    Josh,
I know this is simplistic, but it helps me generate ideas.
